Durst is an Italian company. The printers are made across the border in Austria. Having lived in Austria for 8 years I can attest for their European craftsmanship in designing and building industrial-strength equipment.

Durst is capably represented in the USA so you get full factory support. Durst of course is also the company which makes the Lamda, the laser imager for top quality photo prints which rival those of LightJet.

We have spent several years checking out the Durst Rho since the model 160 was readily available at tradeshows since 2000. We have also followed the progress of the newer Durst Rho 205. All our findings and impressions on this printer are in the FLAAR Report on flatbed printers.

The Durst Rho 205 offers white UV-cured ink. Future options include other spot colors, and spot varnish. Vutek is not able to provide either white ink, nor other spot colors, nor spot varnish. Nur is doing their best to add these features, but Durst has them already.

To learn more about which printers have the features you need (and which other printers lack the features you ought to have), get your hands on the free Previews of the FLAAR Reports on UV-curable ink printers.

And if you wish to discuss UV-curable ink flatbed printers directly with Nicholas Hellmuth, he and his staff at the university are available. You can either come to the university in Ohio (near the Toledo and Detroit airports), or we can visit your facility, anywhere in the world. We have been flown to Mumbai, India, to the Island of Malta, to Osaka, Japan, Mexico City, and locations throughout the US to help corporations, print shops, universities, museums, and individuals relative to wide format printers, RIP and color management software, scanners, and digital cameras. First step is to contact the FLAAR Business Manager, Flor Setina, [email protected] and indicate what markets and applications you already work in, or which ones you want to enter (with our help). Indicate your consulting needs and budget, your time frame, and whether you prefer us to visit you; or whether you prefer to come to our university (or both).
