FLAAR adds QEA Personal IAS, Image Analysis System. The BGSU Large Format Lab (Bowling Green State University) now has available a QEA Personal Image Analysis System. This instrument was provided by QEA to FLAAR, whose large format inkjet printer evaluation facilities are associated with BGSU. QEA provided training to Brent Cavanaugh, Technical Lab Manager at the New England headquarters of QEA. Then Dr Ming-Kai Tse came to BGSU to provide additional training to Brent and Associate Professor Charles Spontelli, VCT program, College of Technology, BGSU. The acquisition of the QEA instrument was organized by Nicholas Hellmuth, who had seen and compared various quality measurement instruments, especially at IMI conferences. Nicholas felt that the QEA instrument could do for dot structure and line quality what a spectrophotometer does for color measurement. The first implementation of the QEA instrument was in the FLAAR evaluation of a recently arrived Canon imagePROGRAF W7250 wide format inkjet printer. The two reports on this evaluation are now available from the FLAAR publication series.
